Establishment of the Department

The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science is one of the modern applied scientific departments at the Agricultural Technical College/Mosul. It was established in 2025 with the aim of preparing specialized cadres who possess scientific and practical knowledge and skills in the fields of biotechnology and the food and dairy industries.

The department relies on integrated scientific curricula that combine biological sciences and food and dairy sciences, which contributes to qualifying students capable of keeping pace with modern scientific and technological developments and meeting the needs of the labor market, through:

1. Development and manufacturing of food and dairy products.
2. Employing modern biotechnology in the food and production fields.
3. Improving the quality and safety of food and dairy according to international standards and specifications.
4. The use of microorganisms and enzymes in food manufacturing processes.
5. Conducting the necessary laboratory tests and analyzes to ensure the safety and quality of food products.
