The department also seeks to keep pace with the ongoing development in agricultural technical education according to scientific standards that fulfill labor market requirements and support sustainable development on academic and scientific foundations. The Department of Medicinal Plants and Natural Products is committed to preparing qualified agricultural engineering technical personnel specialized in medicinal plants and natural products, capable of implementing agricultural plans and programs, with the ability to innovate, develop, and keep pace with advancements in the field of medicinal plants and their natural products used in various applications.

Department Objectives

The department aims to graduate specialized technical personnel in medicinal herbs, medicinal plants, and natural products technologies through the following:

• Classifying plants according to their medicinal benefits and toxicity levels.
• Cultivating and propagating medicinal plants.
• Developing the ability to extract natural medicinal compounds.
• Applying separation and purification techniques for active compounds in herbal and medicinal plant extracts.
• Determining therapeutic doses for diseases using herbal and medicinal plant extracts.
• Developing the ability to treat diseases using medicinal plants.
• Enhancing capabilities in the cultivation and propagation of medicinal plants.
• Classifying herbs and medicinal plants and determining their therapeutic effectiveness and toxicity levels.
• Working in factories producing preparations derived from herbs and medicinal plants.
